May 6, 2015Park City, UT – Victus Advisors is excited to announce two new relationships that extend the firm’s ability to assist local governments, sports commissions, and convention and visitor bureaus (CVB) around the globe seeking to attract sports tourism and the billions of dollars of consumer spending that accompany those events. The firm has developed a partnership with Connect Sports, the leader in bringing together sports planners, rights holders, suppliers and industry experts, that will launch during this summer’s Connect SPORTS MARKETPLACE in Pittsburgh. Additionally, Victus is proud to add George A. Cooley II as a Senior Associate, who will bring his 30+ years of award-winning expertise in the tourism industry to our team.

“We could not be more thrilled to welcome George to the Victus team and launch our new partnership with Connect Sports,” said Brian Connolly, Managing Principal of Victus Advisors. “Both of these exciting additions will add significant lift to our rapidly growing Sports Tourism practice.”

Victus Advisors will be an active partner at the Connect SPORTS MARKETPLACE this August in Pittsburgh, hosting the Venue Matching Reception and serving as a Silver Partner for the organization. Victus will share their independent perspective on developing responsible tourism and event growth strategies with the more than 300 Sports Planners expected to attend the event, as well as their experience providing visitor/travel impact studies with the US Olympic Partners and National Governing Bodies (NGB) in attendance. The event team will be led by Mr. Connolly, and include both Managing Director Jeff Goldscher and Mr. Cooley. Most recently the Sports Development Director for Destination DC, Mr. Cooley’s destination marketing career has featured an impressive list of awards and leadership positions in the Washington, DC area and across the nation. He has served as a member of the executive advisory board for the Connect Sports, member of the board for the Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA), and on the National Tour Association’s (NTA) Leadership Team. He will lead business development efforts for Victus Advisors in the Sports Tourism space, and apply his experience in Sports Tourism and with National Governing Bodies to a number of Victus clients and projects.

“Victus Advisors has a proven track record of creating value for Cities, CVB’s, Sports Commissions, and NGB’s through independent, objective research and customized master planning,” said Mr. Cooley. “I can’t imagine a more ideal opportunity for me to leverage my experience within the Sports Tourism industry and provide a valuable service to my friends and colleagues in the destination marketing industry.”

Victus Advisors has conducted a number of studies focused on helping communities evaluate how their existing and planned resources can drive incremental sports tourism and event demand – most notably working with the cities of Fort Wayne, IN, and Columbia, MO, to develop detailed road maps for each community to become a regional hub for sports tourism. Additionally, the firm measured the visitor impacts of national events for NGB’s such as the U.S. Bowling Congress, including annual estimates of travel parties, hotel nights, car rental days, and overall visitor spending. They have also conducted market, financial and economic feasibility studies for a wide variety of event facilities, ranging from the planned downtown event center in Riverside, CA, to new sports museums being developed in Whiting, IN.

Led by founder, Brian Connolly, Victus Advisors staff and strategic partners provide a combination of independent consulting expertise and practical experience that is unmatched in the sports and entertainment industry. The company provides custom market research, economic and fiscal impact studies, market and financial feasibility, facility operational reviews, sponsorship analysis, marketing/communications consulting, and other strategic market planning services to municipalities, sports planners, developers, NGB’s and other related parties. Based in Park City, UT, the firm also has an operational presence in the Baltimore-Washington area.
